Where the tiniest of designs meets the utmost utility.

The CRKT Pilar® III converts the minimalist’s sailor knife into a distinctly urban EDC whilst keeping the essence of the classic and the epic story behind its name. It’s low profile, understated when folded away, and carefully designed to punch above its weight when used.

Jesper Voxnaes created the original CRKT Pilar® in his shop in Denmark. Anointed after Ernest Hemingway’s beloved boat—the 38-foot long vessel he used for renegade surveillance of German U-boats during WWII in Caribbean waters. The world-famous writer was also a big-game hunter, sailor, and fisherman and would have chosen an everyday knife companion like one of  the Pilar® options for his daily labours.

The 2.9” spear point blade features a satin finish, and the delicate but powerful tip is helpful for more detailed tasks. The grippy G10 handle succeeds throughout years of use, and the eye-catching, stainless steel lanyard loop heightens the look. A thumb slot opening mechanism deploys the blade, and the IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system makes for a super smooth trajectory.

The current Hemingway is the ultimate Renaissance man, and the Pilar® III is the knife that will stand up to the challenge.
